Endlich Frühling/Finally spring :-)

letzten Sonntag war es so schön draußen, dass ich mich getraut habe meine neue Capri-Hose auszuführen:

Es handelt sich um Butterick 5895, ein weiterer Schnitt aus der Kollektion von Gretchen Hirsch (oder Gertie).

Den Stoff habe ich bei Buttinette entdeckt, als ich auf der Suche nach einem geeigneten Mantelstoff war. Es ist ein Köper, der allerdings ziemlich weich ist, also wenig Stand hat und dann irgendwie nicht als Mantel in Frage kam. Das Blumenmuster hat mich sofort angesprochen und der Preis war ok, deshalb habe ich ihn trotzdem bestellt.

Ausgeschnitten habe ich nach einem Vergleich meiner Maße und denen der Schnittteile eine Größe 12, wobei ich in der Hüfte etwas ausladender werden musste.

Die Hose kam schnell zusammen; bei der ersten Anprobe hatte ich aber wieder das gleiche Problem wie schon bei meiner Ginger-Jeans: Katzenhaare im Schritt. Grumpf.

Nach diversen Anpassungsversuchen bin ich schließlich mit dem Ergebnis einigermaßen glücklich. Nicht perfekt, aber darüber kann ich hinweg sehen. Die Beine habe ich noch etwas enger genäht als vorgesehen, so gefällt es mir besser.

Mit ihr war ich dann im Britzer Garten spazieren und habe mich sehr wohl damit gefühlt. Die Bubble-gum-Bomberjacke dazu war insgesamt vielleicht etwas zu viel Pastel, aber ich wollte beides gern mal zusammen probieren. Was meint ihr, zu viel?

Taillenhohe Hosen machen einen ganz schön breiten Hintern….

G´day again my sewing friends,

last Sunday the weather was so beautiful and warm that I felt like wearing my new pedal-pusher pants on a stroll into a park:

The pattern´s another of Gretchen Hirsch`s collection for Butterick, No. 5895.

I stumbled across the gorgeous fabric as I was actually searching for some gabardine for a trenchcoat. It´s a stretch woven, almost like a denim  but somehow it´s a lot softer and with less drape than I thought, so it didn´t qualify for the trench in the end. Yet I fell in love with the flowers and bought some anyway as the price was ok.

I cut a size 12 after checking my measurements and comparing them to the ones of the pattern pieces. I graded to a bigger size at the hips.

The sewing itself was easy; yet the first fitting revealed my old problem (I had the same issue with my Ginger-jeans): Cat hair crotch. hmpf.

After several times re-sewing the crotch I am relatively satisfied with the result. Not perfect, but I am willing to overlook it… I tapered the legs to a smaller amount, I like it better this way.

Being invited to a stroll in the park was the perfect opportunity to show them off 😉
Admitted, it was a little overwhelming combined with the bubble-gum- jacket, but I had to test both out together. What do you think?

Those pants really enhance your derrière quite a bit… 😉

Vintagejacke á la „Grease“

da bin ich wieder mit Version Nummer 2 der Bomberjacke (oder des Blousons) aus der Burda Easy F/S 2014, Modell 1C.

Diesmal habe ich, wie ursprünglich gewollt, so viel gekürzt, dass sie in der Taille sitzt. Beim ersten Modell (hier gezeigt) war das schon der Plan, hat aber nicht ganz funktioniert. Hier nun drastisch um 20cm gekürzt, dafür das Bündchen etwas verbreitert, im Rücken einen Bogen gemacht und Paspeln in die Ärmelnähte eingesetzt.

Es hat mich einiges Gehirnjogging gekostet, die Berechnung der Bündchenteile richtig hinzukriegen, aber letztendlich hat alles super gepasst (ich war selbst am meisten überrascht)!

Leider habe ich keine Tragefotos…beim nächsten mal wieder 🙂

Genäht habe ich aus Joggingsweat, der auf der Innenseite so schön flauschig ist. Alles, außer dem Bündchenstoff, ist aus der Restekiste (ein Hurra für Resteverwertung!) und ist einfach und schnell zusammengekommen, nachdem ich mit den Berechnungen fertig war.

Für Taschen ist die Jacke zu kurz; ich habe sie weggelassen. Und um den College-Charakter zu unterstreichen habe ich meinen Anfangsbuchstaben appliziert.
Ich bin total glücklich mit dem Resultat. Der Reißverschluss sitzt gut und hat die richtige Länge ;-), die Paspeln sind schön gleichmäßig und die Kaugummifarben sind fröhlich und erinnern mich irgendwie an die „Pink Ladies“ aus dem Film Grease.
Jetzt noch einen Tellerrock oder einen (immernoch nicht genähten) Pencilskirt dazu und der Vintage-Frühling kann beginnen :-).

Die Jacke geht zum MeMadeMittoch, Frühlingserwachen passt doch zu der Jacke oder?, und zum Twelvecolorsofhandmadefashion (wo das Motto im März rosa war). Ich bin ein bißchen spät dran…

G´day again,

here I go again (not on my own though, haha), with version No. 2 of the Bomberjacket (or Blouson) taken from Burda Easy F/S 2014, Model 1C.

This time it sits snugly in my waist, which was the plan for version No. 1 also (as shown here), but didn´t work out. So here I drastically shortened the front- and backpieces for about 20cm. I reshaped the backpiece to a nice curve and because of that had to „brainjog“ around the measurements for the seam length and width.

After having figured that out, it all came together beautifully. I added some white piping to the sleeveline for a nice effect.

Sorry for not having a pic with me wearing this beauty. Next time round, I promise 🙂

The fabric is a joggingsweat with a fluffy inside, really nice and cosy, plus, it´s taken from the scraps-bucket (a hooray for stash-busting!). Only the bündchen and the zip are new. I love it when some scraps become a brand new garment, don´t you, too?

It was a quick sew after I finished my mathematics and I am really pleased with the outcome. It´s too short now for pockets, so I deleted them. To emphasize the college-character, I applicated my first initial. Now it really reminds me of the jackets the „Pink Ladies“ in the movie Grease wore. Imagine a circle skirt or a (still not sewn) pencilskirt with it and the vintage-spring can show up!
